FINISHED CATTLE – 189

A brighter trade.  Just a better feel to everything.

MEDIUM STEERS: Best Quality to 244.0p av. 224.0p; Standard Quality to 196.5p av. 186.5p; Also Rans to 172.0p; Overall average 182.6p

HEAVY STEERS: Best quality to 233.0p av. 218.2p; Standard quality to 196.5p av. 191.4p; Also rans to 184.5p; Overall average 194.6p

HEAVY HEIFERS: Best quality to 243.5p av. 220.2p; Standard Quality to 199.5p av. 188.9p; Also Rans to 179.5p; Overall average 194.7p

MEDIUM BULLS: To 215.0p average 172.0p

HEAVY BULLS: To 212.0p average 184.6p

BARREN COWS & OLD BULLS – 15

A stronger trade again.  

Grade 1 Cows to 139.5p av. 135.5p                           Grade 2 Cows to 123.5p av. 120.1p

Grade 3 Cows to 114.5p av. 109.0p                           Grade 4 Cows to 89.5p av. 72.8p

Cull Bulls to 118.5p av. 118.5p                                   Overall average 109.0p

LAMBS – 2,730

A firm lamb trade with plenty of buyers in attendance and overall averages as good as anywhere.  

Prices were as follows:-

Standard Lambs to 181.5p av. 167.6p

Medium Lambs to 216.0p av. 179.1p

Heavy Lambs to 190.0p av. 174.7p

Overweight Lambs to 175.0p av. 166.0p

Export quality lambs sold up to 216.0p per kilo and averaged 187.0p per kilo and home trade lambs sold up to 177.5p per kilo and averaged 173.5p per kilo.

CULL SHEEP – 1,049

A large entry of ewes sold to a solid trade right through. Bigger ewes seemed to be the order of the day and sold to the best trade. Lots of leaner ewes on offer which would still be a good trade but were slightly harder sold.

Ewes topped £107.50 and averaged £58.06

Rams topped £123.00 and averaged £65.43

LUDLOW MARKET EWE REPORT - FRIDAY 30TH AUGUST 2019

A smaller entry of ewes for the extra sale, but a really nice trade right the way through. The North Country Mules in fact were about £5.00 a head dearer than the previous week. Runs of North Country Mules sold between £130.00 and £142.00 per head. Texel X Ewes at £120.00, virtual total clearance. Plenty of men looking.

THREE HORSESHOES SALE REPORT – SATURDAY 31ST AUGUST 2019

STORE LAMBS - 78

A small entry for the first sale at the Shoes but a very good trade. Four or five buyers turned up and in fact many more could have been sold to advantage.

Medium lambs sold to £61.60 and £61.00 and all of the lambs averaged £59.40 More needed for the next sale.
